And a Little History

(Ok, Maybe A Lot Of History)

It all started early in 2009, just before the Swine Flu epidemic, with an idea for a sacrament water tray top that would prevent residue water from the used cups from falling into the clean cups. After about 14 years, about 20 different revisions, and boxes of prototypes; we came up with a sanitary tray top that would fit on the current sacrament water tray bottom. Howard stepped into the picture a few years into this adventure and added not only his insight but his vast experience of manufacturing and design.

While developing this, we realized that there was also a great need for a low-cost, miniature, sanitary, sacrament-kit that could be used in homes, care facilities, etc. for those not able to come to church.

Ultimately the larger tray wasn’t destined for mass production and we are no longer pursuing it. However, we discovered that by cutting it down and changing the design a little, it would create a brand new product; a very compact, miniature sacrament tray kit. It was also very simple, reverent, and practical; which made it perfect for administering the sacrament in small group situations.

There were still two draw-backs:

To accomplish these two criteria would require very expensive molds. However we both knew that this was something that was needed and we wanted to provide it. Last year, after much contemplation, we both decided to make the large investment for molds so we could mass produce them out of food grade plastic at our shop in northern Utah, we applied for a patent, and we formed “Sanitary Sacrament Trays LLC.” Providing a sanitary sacrament tray has been our dream for many years and if it makes the sacrament meaningful and sacred for others, it will be worth it.
